A Little about the Leech Lake Area
Leech Lake is a 112,000-acre body of water located southeast of Walker, Minnesota. It lies mostly within the Leech Lake Indian Reservation, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Chippewa National Forest. With a maximum depth of 150 feet and with 640 miles of shoreline, it’s home to pan and game fish, including Northern Pike, Walleye, Perch, Muskie, Bluegill and Largemouth Bass. The lake serves as a backdrop for numerous outdoor activities, including swimming, boating, hiking and fishing. Minnesota’s Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) monitors Leech Lake closely to preserve its beauty and viability, and in an effort to make it as family-friendly and safe as possible. Fishing licenses are required on Leech Lake.
